Words Into Motion

Words Into Motion is an educational Google Slides™ add-on created by Juliet Nasar for elementary teachers and education professionals.

Purpose Of Words Into Motion

The purpose of Words Into Motion is to help teachers make elementary math word problems easier for students to understand by turning each problem into simple visual storyboard slides.

What Words Into Motion Does

Teachers enter a single-step addition or subtraction word problem. Words Into Motion creates a storyboard that introduces the character, object, starting quantity, change, and final answer. Teachers can review the storyboard before inserting the generated slides into a Google Slides™ presentation.

The add-on creates editable slide-native visuals using shapes and text. Teachers can adjust or delete the generated slides before using them with students.

Who Uses Words Into Motion

Words Into Motion is intended for elementary teachers and education professionals who want to create visual scaffolds for classroom math instruction.

Why Words Into Motion Requests User Data

Words Into Motion requests access only to support its classroom slide-building workflow. It uses access to the current Google Slides™ presentation so it can insert storyboard slides when the teacher chooses to do so. It uses user-specific storage to save the teacher's Groq API key, and it uses external network access to send the teacher-entered word problem to Groq for storyboard generation.

The add-on does not intentionally collect student names, student records, grades, payment information, or demographic information. Teachers should not enter sensitive student information or confidential school records into the add-on.

Setup

Open Google Slides™, choose Extensions > Words Into Motion > Open Words Into Motion, then save your Groq API key in Settings before generating your first storyboard.
